Throckmorton Collegiate ISD has a new athletic director with the recent hire of Curtis Lowery. Coach Lowery joins TCISD after having spent the last five years with Godley ISD, where he served as their head football coach and director of boys athletics.
Coach Lowery brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with him into his new role, having spent the past 21 years in education. Prior to working for Godley ISD, Coach Lowery was with Levelland ISD where he served as their athletic director and head football coach from 2017-2019. He has also spent time as an offensive coordinator with Glen Rose ISD and Snyder ISD He spent time as an assistant coach with Stephenville ISD, Kennedale ISD, Harmony ISD, and Grandview ISD.
Before coaching, Coach Lowery played football for the storied Stephenville Yellow Jackets under the leadership of Coach Art Briles. He then went on to play D1 college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders under the leadership of Coach Spike Dykes. Throughout his time as an athlete, Coach Lowery learned the value of setting goals and developing plans to achieve them. These critical lessons that he learned during his playing days are the same ones that he continues to instill in his players today.
Coach Lowery brings a unique perspective to his role as a coach, backed by his achievements of securing five state championships as both a player and a coach. He believes that this experience has shaped his coaching philosophy of emphasizing not only skills development but also fostering a culture of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.
He believes that developing positive relationships with his athletes, parents, and the broader community as well as recognizing the need to collaborate with everyone involved in the overall success of the kids are key to the success of his athletic programming.
TCISD looks forward to seeing the positive impact that Coach Lowery and his family will make throughout our district as well as the lives of our students! We couldn't be more proud to have him join our team!
